What’s the next best thing to going to see live music, comedy, and cabaret in a cozy, communal performance space? Finding out that a mainstay of that scene has gotten their own HBO television deal. HBO has given a series order to Somebody Somewhere, a comedy show starring and executive-produced by the eminently talented Bridget Everett. In a statement, HBO announced that the series will be co-produced by High Maintenance’s Hannah Bos, Chernobyl’s Carolyn Strauss, and Room 104’s Duplass brothers, making this a real Home Box Office family affair.
To quote a wise precinct captain: This ain’t no common bitch. Stewart, the corgi who portrayed Captain Holt’s adorable alpha-canine companion on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, has died at the age of 13. Per EW, Stewart’s owner confirmed his passing on Instagram earlier this week, giving him one hell of a final day before being “peacefully” put to rest by a veterinarian: A trip to the beach with a swim session and In-N-Out Burger picnic.
Country music raised its red solo cups high in tribute to the late Toby Keith at Sunday’s CMT Awards. The country singer died of stomach cancer in February. A trio of Keith covers were performed at the show: Sammy Hagar did “I Love This Bar” (fitting since both he and Keith are themed bar owners), Brooks & Dunn covered “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” and Lainey Wilson performed “How Do You Like Me Now?

Said Hall in a video titled “we broke up.
Bryson Tiller was not about to miss a cuffing season in which everyone has to be indoors. The Grammy-nominated R&B singer returns after three years with the slow and sexy new track “Inhale.” The song samples SWV’s “All Night Long” (from the Waiting to Exhale soundtrack) and Mary J. Blige’s “Not Gon’ Cry,” as a fair warning to everyone who isn’t trying to have a pandemic baby. “Baby girl, I miss when you adored me,” he bothers his ex-girl.
Things are looking good for USA’s Burn Notice: Its season-five ratings are healthy, Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan) has been unburned, and earlier this year, viewers got to meet a pre-Miami Sam Axe in the network’s TV movie, The Fall of Sam Axe. Cult B-movie icon Bruce Campbell (he of Evil Dead fame) plays Axe, a mojito-sipping, Hawaiian-shirt-sporting ex-Navy Seal, on the hit drama. We spoke with him ahead of tonight’s episode about what’s in store for Sam this season, how he shed twenty pounds for the prequel, and why he still geeks out over Comic Con.
Despite an alleged Hamilton boycott, tickets are still hard to come by around these parts (November 2017!). But take solace in the fact that The Hamilton Mixtape dropped last week so that you could enjoy twists on your favorite Hamilton songs by super-famous people like Usher, Sia, Nas, Kelly Clarkson, and more. Monday night on The Tonight Show, Busta Rhymes, Joell Ortiz, and the Roots performed their contribution, a remix of “My Shot,” while wearing some fabulous coats.
