Carol Channing in Hello, Dolly! Carol Channing, the Broadway legend best known for big personality, smoky belt, and dedication to the musical Hello, Dolly!, is dead at 97. The New York Times confirmed the news, writing that Channing died at her home in Rancho Mirage, California, Tuesday morning and that she had suffered two strokes in the past year. Born in Seattle to a family of Christian Scientists, Channing went to Bennington College in Vermont, before moving to New York to work as an actress and sustain herself with survival gigs.

After an eight-season run on Castle, Nathan Fillion will be returning to ABC. But this time he won’t be solving any mysteries, and the closest he’ll come to a car chase will probably be watching a minivan speed on the way to school. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Modern Family co-creator Steve Levitan told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour that Fillion will appear in at least three episodes of the show.
