SNL is bringing in some new guest writers: standup Chelsea Peretti and humor writer Cora Frazier. The duo will be serving as writers for the next two episodes, hosted by Justin Bieber and Christoph Waltz, respectively. Chelsea Peretti wrote on the first season of Comedy Central’s Kroll Show and left her writing gig on Parks and Recreation last year after two seasons on the show. This is the first TV writing credit for Cora Frazier, who has had pieces published in The New Yorker and McSweeney’s.

Child’s Play, the new slasher reboot of the Chucky franchise, directed by Lars Klevberg, half works. Garish Christmas lights and drones equipped with razors — both of which feature in the film as fantastic weaponry — are amusing, but they’re only as effective as the limp horror story around it. Unfortunately, Child’s Play is undone by a lack of tension even its best performances can’t conjure, and a familiar story that only skips lightly along the surface of gnarly ideas.
